About Carol Grigsby-Smith
Carol has worked in various roles within the mental health field for over 20 years. She obtained her bachelor's degree at Austin Peay State University in Psychology in 1999 and later, returned to APSU and completed her MSW and obtained her License as a Clinical Social Worker in 2015.
She completed additional training and education through the University of Michigan for Integration of Behavioral Health in Primary Care and Cherokee Health Systems at their Behavioral Health Consultant Academy (BHC). She focused her time in Integrated Care, working as a BHC closely with primary care providers to provide a wide variety of Integrated Health services.
Carol's focus with each patient is in the areas of emotional concerns, physical symptoms and behaviors. She can help patients work through emotional issues, including: Family difficulties, Relationship issues, Anger, Stress, Bereavement, Depression, Anxiety and Sleep Disorders. Carol can help patients manage symptoms from chronic medical conditions like: Migraine and Tension headaches, Fibromyalgia, Diabetes, Asthma, COPD, and Hypertension.
She can also help patients make behavioral changes to feel better, such as: Healthy thinking, quitting smoking, weights loss, drug and alcohol abuse education, lifestyle changes.
Carol has a strong background in Trauma treatment for children and adults, practicing Holistic and Mindfulness approaches, and utilizes Cognitive Behavioral therapy to support patients.
